
Terms of Service - updated March 2023
The following terms of service apply to all engagements accepted by CMJ Accounting Ltd. All work is carried out under these terms except where changes are agreed in writing in advance. My Engagement Letter sets out the standard terms and conditions and should be construed in accordance with English law.
Anti-Money Laundering
I am required to identify my clients for the purposes of the UK Anti-Money Laundering Legislation. I may request from you, and retain, such information and documentation as I require for these purposes. If I am not able to obtain satisfactory evidence of your identity, I will not be able to proceed with the engagement.
Confidentiality
I confirm that if you give me confidential information I will, at all times during and after this engagement, keep it confidential, with exception of circumstances required by law.
Payment Terms
I will invoice you once the work has been completed. All sums will be due for full payment within 7 days. If the invoice is not paid within 7 days, I will charge interest on the unpaid bill at a rate of 5% per calendar month above the Bank of England base rate until it is paid in full. I reserve the right to stop work if you fail to make any payment when it falls due. I reserve the right to increase my prices once a year. You will be informed in writing in advance of any increase.
Disengagement
Both parties can agree to end an agreement by either of us giving to the other 30 days written notice of our intention to end the agreement.
Any papers will be retained by myself for 7 years, after which they will be destroyed.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases I rely on for processing this information is that I have a legal obligation.

I only keep personal information for as long as is required to fulfil the purposed of which it was collected, after which I will destroy all information.

Under data protection law, you have rights including:
Your right of access - You have the right to ask me for copies of your personal information.
Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask me to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask me to complete information you think is incomplete.

Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask me to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that I transfer the personal information you gave me to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.
You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, I have one month to respond to you.
